Take a trip to Kiribati Islands and get away from it all!

There is so much to enjoy in Kiribati Islands if you want to get away from it all. It does not have shopping malls or big commercial establishments, internet usage is not common, mobile telephone system is only available in certain areas, you can count with your fingers the places where credit cards are accepted, no television, and only 4 radio stations. This is one of the few countries in the world where you can spend days without any news or communication beyond the islands!

Kiribati Islands is located in the central Pacific Ocean. It is composed of one raised coral island named Banaba, and 33 atolls and reef islands. The islands are group into three namely: Line Islands, Gilbert Islands, and the Phoenix Islands. Majority of its 100,000 inhabitants live in the Gilbert Islands group which is where its capital Tawara is located. You will not have any communication problem in Kiribati as English is widely spoken. Bonriki International Airport is your only gateway to the islands. It is the only international airport in Kiribati, and links Kiribati to other of its outlying islands, and countries like Fiji, Nauru and Marshall Islands.

Although getting to Kiribati is quite expensive, everything else is cheap! You can get by with $30 a day including meals and accommodations. So what does Kiribati offer to travelers? Kiribati is all about the sun, sand and sea. You can choose where to swim every single day. Bike around one of the islands and stop when and wherever you want too. Try to take a trip to Phoenix Island Marine Protected Area, the world’s largest marine protected area, which boasts of coral islands, spectacular lagoons, and white sandy beaches. You will just have to ask permission from the government as they limit visitors to the area. If you want to splurge a little bit, you can hire a boat and go island hopping.

Kiribati is not your usual tourist destination. Only a few thousand tourists visit the country annually. If you like to travel off the beaten path, and enjoy the sun, sea, and sand without any distractions, Kiribati will be perfect for you. Consult your travel agent for more details.
