A Canary Island that promises luxury – dive into the posh hotels and resorts in Gran Canaria.

Famous Dunes in Maspalomas

With almost half of Gran Canaria being protected as a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve, including the charming towns, endless shorelines, verdant ravines and sparkling white-sand dunes, it’s definitely a plus to be welcomed by the most luxurious resorts and hotels that this Miniature Continent could offer.

Of course, Gran Canaria is no longer a secret as it, more particularly its southern region, already pulls in over 2 million visitors every year.

Today more affluent travelers will be attracted to the southern part of Gran Canaria, specifically in Meloneras, since a good number of posh accommodations have been starting to dot the area. Daily Mail UK Travel contributor Andrew Morrod has seen such great development as he takes a trip to Meloneras himself to experience its promised luxuriousness (“Five-Star for Families: The Luxury Wind of Change that is Blowing across Gran Canaria”).

Here’s quick preview of his recently published article:

From the Meloneras Palace to the Gran Hotel, the Riu Palace and several others along the seafront, the feel is the same – lush green lawns, swaying palms, vast shimmering pools, and columns of marble standing guard at grand entrances… If Meloneras sounds like your cup of sangria, there is a new kid on the block that will take your breath away. The Lopesan Baobab is described as a ‘resort’ rather than a hotel - and it is certainly big enough to warrant the moniker… There is plenty of space to find a few loungers and use them as a base to drift between the Henry Stanley bar (named after the African explorer and situated in a cave where you can sip a coffee and ruminate by the pool-side as a little waterfall cascades around you), or lunch at the Pili Pili restaurant.
